since 1981. He is trained in both Western
and Chinese herbal medicine, and is also a specialist
in the medicinal plants of the United States Virgin
Islands. Roy is a founding member and current Vice-President
of the American Herbalists Guild, a national peer
review
organization for professional herbalists specializing
in the use of medicinal plants. He also serves on
the board of directors of the Botanical Medicine
Academy.
Roy is the general manager of Planetary Formulas,
a California-based herb company, and is a
member of the
Standards Committee of the American Herbal Products
Association. He has written and co-written several
books, including contributions on Echinacea and
St. John's wort to Keat's Publishing's Good Health
Series, the Botanical Safety Handbook by CRC
Press and Essays on American Herbalism by
Crossing Press.
